Our Whirlwind Weekend
I shouldn’t be at all surprised, but the weekend flew by.
Saturday we climbed on a bus around 6am. The trip is organized by the hospital where Mark’s mother works and it’s a little (a lot) crazy, but always an equal amount of fun. The bus is packed with movies and goodies for the trip up and before you know it, you’re in the middle of New York.
We arrived in Times Square around 10:30 and went straight to a quick early lunch and a little walking around before a Jersey Boys matinee, dinner at Toloache, and back on the bus for the long trip home.
Every bit (with the exception of Times Square — I can’t say it’s my favorite place in New York) was amazing. It was a great show and even better food… and we even had time to pick up a few stocking stuffers here and there. Unfortunately there wasn’t enough time to cab it to any of the places where I would have really liked to shop, but there’s always next time. The city is just 4 hours away and Mark and I really want to head back sometime soon to see Book of Mormon.
This trip was all about family, and it was perfect.
Sunday would have been all about recovery if we hadn’t already scheduled a 9 mile run… which we somehow managed to drag ourselves through, then curl up immediately on the couch with a movie (and maybe a little cheesecake ice cream). It was a needed dose of relaxation before heading back into the work week. As much as I love the city, there’s nothing better than my little country home on a cozy Sunday night.
