What should I read?
by Laicie
There are a million reasons why I can’t wait for our honeymoon, but one of them is definitely the much-needed break. I’m looking forward to a little time to sit back, relax, and read something fun (because super fun frivolous reading and the word vacation are one in the same).
I’m excited to start making a list of what books I might want to take along… and because I have a sneaking suspicion that you all are sitting on some fantastic recommendations, I thought I’d start with you.
So tell me, what book will I be crazy if I miss?
P.S. Bookshelf Porn
Hard-Boiled Wonderland and the End of the World. I guarantee you’ve never read anything like it before.
Oh boy, I’ve been burning through books lately! I really loved the Poisonwood Bible, even if the ending felt a little off, adored the Elegance of the Hedgehog and its follow up, Gourmet Rhapsody, The Paris Wife, Seating Arrangements–oh boy, my Kindle has been busy!
im not much a a book person but relaxing, having little to no cares in the world are some of the best reasons to have a honeymoon that and a lot of alone time with your husband for married people stuff 😉
Here are some of the great books I’ve read this year that are honeymoon friendly (don’t read Paris Wife on your honeymoon! It’s a great book but tough on marriages, especially new ones!): The Marriage Plot, Wild, The Art of Fielding, Delirium, The Age of Miracles, I Suck at Girls (**!), Summer and the CIty. Happy honeymooning!
I decided to re read the Jane Austen classics… They never get old!
I just recently finished reading Gone Girl and it was a fast good read. If you haven’t read them already, the Girl w/ the Dragon Tattoo trilogy is awesome as well. Or for a good laugh, any of David Sedaris’ books 🙂 Where are you going for your honeymoon? Or is it a secret for now?
No not a secret at all, we’re going to Peru!! I’m seriously so excited I can barely stand it. 🙂
You can never go wrong with The Happiness Project 😉

Oh my gosh that’s the only one of these awesome recommendations that I have read and I LOVE it!! Gretchen Rubin is amazing… she’s such an inspiration.
I’m re-reading one of my favourites right now: The Golden Spruce by John Vaillant. It’s wonderful. I’d also recommend anything by Douglas Coupland. I love him. Happy reading!
